About us

Elm Cottage is a 200 year old cottage in the hamlet of Stibb on the north coast of Cornwall. It used to be the local blacksmiths, and the planter at the front of the cottage was the water trough for horses. The cottage has been adapted over the years and we have owned it since 2010.

We enjoy the cottage as a home from home and we hope you do too. We’ve kept many of it’s original features and added some home comforts so that it’s a cosy retreat from our busy lives.

We like to manage our bookings and this website ourselves in order to keep our costs down and prices reasonable. All the photos on this website are our own photos of the cottage and the local area - no filters!

Please note: Elm Cottage is an old cottage. There are some steep steps inside and out, and some low door frames. Caution is required, and the steps mean that the cottage is sadly unsuitable for those with access needs.

    • Basket of logs provided for each stove, additional logs available at £5 per basket

    • Well-equipped kitchen with electric oven and induction hob, fridge freezer, microwave, Nespresso compatible coffee machine, other small kitchen appliances and basic kitchen essentials (sorry, no dishwasher)

    • Bedroom 3 with twin beds

  • Cliff and forest walks from the cottage

  • South West Coast Path from nearest beach - Sandymouth

  • Tamar Lakes 5 miles away - water sports, cafe and a lake walk

  • Many other attractions and activities in the surrounding area

Bookings are usually Saturday to Saturday, but please ask if you would like a different start day.

Maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at £25 per dog per week (dogs not to be left unattended in the cottage, medium dog crate available).

    The kitchen is amazing! We actually like to cook, even on holiday, so having access to a large kitchen equipped with all the appliances you could want was fabulous. The shelves are also incredibly well stocked with baking and cooking ingredients. I bagged the master bedroom and it was so comfy, light and airy. Overall a fabulous place and really good communication with the owner.

    Elm Cottage was an absolute delight. Everything in the description was accurate. The cottage was extremely well appointed and certainly family orientated. Close enough to Bude and the Cornish coast to enjoy days out. But secluded enough to enjoy the tranquility of the small village. A very quaint and quirky cottage - if you are tall like me - watch your head. Those low beams will catch you out.

    Fabulous Cottage. Comfortable and cosy and everything you could need for a holiday exploring the North Cornish Coast (only a few miles from the A39). Enclosed garden (Patio & Lawned area) for our two dogs was perfect. Great communication from the owner Deb, with the best equipped kitchen we have ever found in our numerous stays in Cornwall and Devon. I would not hesitate to book again in the future, highly recommended!

    Really lovely cottage. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Deb the owner provided lots of information before our stay and was easily contactable. The garden was lovely for us but sadly our poor old pooch found the steps a bit tricky.

    The cottage was brilliant. We had an extremely comfortable two weeks there. The kitchen was the best equipped of any cottage we have used before which was really appreciated in this year where going out for meals is less easy to do . The property is spacious and good for larger families or a group of friends with four bedrooms and two bathrooms The Cottage is very well situated to visit many interesting places on the north Cornwall coast and also enabled us to set off on foot to the beach and onto the SW coastal path. We would be very happy to book again in the future.
